Pilates Levels

MD Health's Pilates comes in 5 levels, starting from Level 1 Beginners all the way up to a Level 5 Advanced. Call Reception on 03 9857 0644 for pricing information for each level.

Level 1 Beginners
If you've never done Pilates with us before, this is the level that you will be starting on. Level 1 Beginners will consist of 2 sessions of 1on1 Pilates. 1on1 Pilates is you and your Physio or EP fully supervising both your half hour sessions for the week. During this week, you and your instructor will concentrate on technique. You will also be spending some time with our Real Time Ultrasound training. Real Time Ultrasound is the same ultrasound used for pregnant women to view their babies. With us at MD Health, real time ultrasound will be utilised in this first week to enable you to see your core muscles in action. This is the best way to train your mind and your body to coordinate with each other.

Most of our new members will be on this level for at least 1 week.

Level 2 Beginners
If after your Full Body Assessment our Physios/EPs find that there are not that many musculoskeletal issues with you, you may start on this level. Level 2 Beginners will consist of 1 session on 1on1; and your second session on 2on1. 2on1 is when there's you and another member on the same level supervised by one instructor. Similar to Level 1, you will also spend time on technique as well as real time ultrasound training.

Most of our new members will be on this level for at least 1 week.

Level 3 Intermediate
Once you've done at least 1 week of Level 1 or Level 2 Beginners, most new members will be progressed on to Level 3 Intermediate. Level 3 will consist of 2 sessions on 2on1. 2on1 is when there's you and another member on the same level supervised by one instructor. Just be aware that your program is still very much tailored for you even though you're sharing the same instructor.

Most of our new members will be on this level at least until Week 7.

Level 4 Advanced

When week 7 comes along, you will undergo a re-assessment very similar to the Full Body Assessment. Depending on the outcome of the re-assessment, you may stay on Level 3 or be progressed on to Level 4 Advanced. Level 4 Advanced will consist of 1 session on 2on1; and 1 session on 4on1. 4on1 is where there's you and 3 other members on the same level supervised by the one instructor. Even on this level, your program is still very much tailored for you. This is why a re-assessment occurs every 7 and 6 weeks.

You are more likely to stay on this level at least until week 13.

Level 5 Advanced
You may also be progressed on to this level after your Week 7 re-assessment. Level 5 Advanced will consist of 2 session on 4on1. This class consist of members that have been with us for more than 13 weeks if not upto 3 years. Members of this level have excellent awareness and ability in maintaining optimal core stability control. They are also able to demonstrate strength, coordination, balance and superior technique whilst performing hard and complicated Pilates moves. This class is still fully supervised by one instructor per 4 members at the same time. Program is still tailored for every single individual.

Members on this level are free of any musculoskeletal issues.
